FAQs Food

What kind of food is available?

Meals are not provided at Ports of Prince William Summer Day Camp.  Your child should pack their lunch in a 1-gallon zip-lock bag (no hard or soft lunch boxes or brown paper bags, please).  Each Unit Leader is asked to bring a cooler daily to keep their campers' lunches and extra water cool.

My daughter is a vegetarian.  Will you be able to accommodate her?

Absolutely! Although you still have to provide her lunches, we will take this into account with any snacks or Cooking Center treats we provide.  Be sure to check "special dietary needs" on the registration form and provide details in the comments -- don't just say "vegetarian"! Give us specific details such as "doesn't eat meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese", etc.  This also applies to food allergies, cultural or religious food requirements, lactose intolerance, etc.  The more we know; the better we are able to assist your child.

My daughter has severe food allergies.  Will this be a problem?

Not with a little help from Mom or Dad! Please be specific in describing the allergies.  Most food allergies have varying degrees of causes and reactions (i.e.  can she sit next to someone eating a peanut butter sandwich?).  If your daughter has severe or extensive food allergies/restrictions her Unit Leader, the Cooking Center Leader and the Camp First Aider will all be informed!
