Program Aide Volunteer Information

Program Aides are Teen Girl Scouts who assist the adult Unit Leaders.  We call them our "Program Aide Staff" to distinguish them from our "Adult Staff." Campers in the 8th grade and above must serve as PA's.  Experience as a PA is preferred, but not required.  There is an official GSUSA training program and it is sometimes offered locally prior to the summer.  There is a $20.00 fee for attending as a PA, which covers: camp t-shirt, camp patch, & afternoon popsicles.  These girls are working toward Cadette or Senior Girl Scout Awards such as their Program Aide Patch, Leadership Pin, community service hours, etc.  For more information on the PA program, see the Cadette Girl Scout Handbook or the Senior Girl Scout Handbook.

We have Program Aide positions in all of the same Units and Centers as the adult volunteers.  Review the Adult Staff position descriptions to see the type of work involved.  We prefer that rising 10th - 12th graders work in the Cadettes, Junior, Boys and Preschool Units.  Rising 8th and 9th graders work well in Daisy, Brownie, Boys and Preschool Units.

The Program Aides must attend the Program Aide Orientation (see Dates & Deadlines), so mark your calendar now! Orientation will fast be upon us.

Program Aides should also be available to meet at least once separately with their Center Leaders or Unit Leaders, depending on where you are assigned.  Unit PA's with need to attend their Unit pre-camp meeting.  This is usually scheduled by the Unit Leader.

Do you have an interest or particular skills in any of these areas? GOOD! We need YOU! (Bet you didn't know that PA also stands for "Perfect Angel" and that's what you are when you lend a hand to help children younger than yourself.  Thanks!)

Once you have applied for a Program Aide Volunteer position, you may wish to check out our Staff Resources page to view the Program Aide handbook and additional information.
